IMD issues Red Alert for Gujarat and Yellow alert for Rajasthan (Twitter)
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday has issued a red alert for parts of Gujarat and a yellow alert for Rajasthan. It has also issued heavy rainfall warning for over the next 48 hours. Heavy rainfall are expected in several parts of Gujarat including Mehsana, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Patan, and some areas of Saurashtra-Kutch.
Heavy rains are also expected in Ahmedabad, Surendranagar, and Kheda, while South Gujarat remains under an orange alert.
Meanwhile, in Rajasthan, due to heavy rains holiday has been declared in all schools and Anganwadi centres on Monday. In a statement to ANI District Collector Pratap Singh said, “This order has been issued in light of the IMD alert, which anticipates heavy rainfall during the next 24 hours in the district.” The admistration informed that students from classes 1 to 12 will stay home.
Another severely affected area is Dausa, which received over 177 mm of rainfall. As per district magistrate Devender Kumar, “Relief teams are on alert, and residents are urged to report incidents to the control room.” Earlier on Sunday, Union minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore inspected the flood-hit areas in Dausa and announced Rs 16 crore for schools and dams repair work.
It is to be noted that IMD has also issued a warning of moderate rain with thunderstorm and lightening at several parts of Delhi including Seemapuri, Karawal Nagar, Dilshad Garden, Vivek Vihar. Some places in NCR including Hindon AF Station, Dadri, Loni Dehat, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula. Meanwhile, moderate rain is expected in several areas in Haryana including Assandh, Safidon, Gannaur. Notably, the Yamuna water level was recorded at 205.56 metres on Sunday at the Old Railway Bridge, as per IMD.
